Sheldon 55 (#35627) is brings back the "Slanting 7" Obverse 26 from the S-54 (#35624) and pairs it with Reverse Y.
The obverse die will almost always show a prominent die crack from just below the 9 o'clock position, sloping upward toward the gap between Liberty's first and second flowing hair strands. The die crack in the hair above the 1, visible on most examples of S-54, has advanced and now branches off at an obtuse angle, with its new offshoot running vertically toward the right tip of the 1.
Reverse Y is often noted as the "Big Berry" reverse. While the berries are bold in their presentation, the bungled spacing of STATES, with its offset and crooked A, is even more pronounced. The berries themselves are large and oriented six to the left and five to the right; the uppermost berry on the right side rests directly on the stem.
