PCGS CoinFacts Update

From indentured servitude to the design of the Capped Bust Dime, John Reich’s rise at the Mint was marked by institutional rivalry and a lasting debate over the true authorship of his iconic work. Though only one die pair produced this elusive 1809 issue, its storied history and extreme rarity in Gem condition have driven auction prices to a record-breaking $60,000.   Read more.

PCGS Set Registry Update

The Perth Mint was established in Australia on June 20, 1899. During a roughly 30-year span lasting until 1931, the Perth Mint struck 100+ million gold sovereigns (each weighing less than 1/4 oz). In the 1950s, Great Britain was so impressed with the Perth Mint's method of refining .999-fine gold that they ordered the precious metal for themselves! Many modern commemorative issues are struck at the Perth Mint and have become collectible over the years. Some issues have an uncirculated finish, others are proofs, and some are also colorized. The 2011 silver Koala 50 cents shown above is part of the Australian Silver Fifty Cents Perth Mint, Proof (1966-Present) that PCGS recently listed. Completing this set will be a challenge for many collectors, and we wish you the best of luck.

Additional sets from various countries have been added, so please feel free to browse the PCGS Set Registry when you have a chance and you may find there is a set for almost anyone to build. The PCGS Set Registry offers many different sets from all over the world and specialty sets for advanced collectors. We appreciate your continued patronage!
